How do i get my dog to stop hiking his leg on my plants?

I have an elephant ear plant that is now starting to die....b/c my dog keeps hiking his leg on it, is there anything i can do? Of course move the plant but i like it where it is. Ill move it if i have to.

How do i get my dog to stop hiking his leg on my plants?
Put a low decorative fence around it about 3' in front of it.
Reply:Your dog is little right? You should get a news paper and roll it up and when he gets ready to hike his leg up you should hit him on the tip of his nose or on the top of his head. And say loudly NO, that will stop him from peeying on it.
Reply:First thing you need to do is to reclaim your plant back. Your dog by marking that plant is marking his territory and claiming that plant as his.

So this is a much deeper issue than just marking. One quick tip i can give is , if you see him correct him right away. If he lifts up his leg you catch him in the act, then you can put him in a submissive position so he understands what he did was unacceptable.

But it sounds like you don't have 100% leadership over your dog and that is the root of the problem.

Exercise, Discipline and Affection in that order is the formula you need to go by.

Reply:You have to show the dog who's boss. Tell him no, and train him not to do that. Same as not letting him jump on furniture, etc. You run the house, not him, so step up to the plate and do it.
Reply:Putting a fence around it or if in a pot put it on a little bench of some sort, maybe your only solution to keeping the plant where it is (he may keep doing it because other male dogs keep undoing what he is doing) and trying to put him in another area to do his business. Saving the plant maybe another story (LOL) you will need to change the dirt if possible.
