How many yards of fabric will I need to cover the entire surface area of an average female elephant?

Please note that my question is specifically about covering every surface area -from the underside of the feet, to the entire body, and to the entire head (ears, face, tusk and trunk). The average shoulder height is 8.2 feet. The average weight is 8,000 lbs.

I haven't seen the Q before, but certainly it is Inane.

The weight is unimportant, unless one intended to Hoist an elephant in a bag, such as might be the case at a Denali grocery store. :) I doubt they ask, Paper or Plastic.

The shoulder height also is of little importance, the notion is the total height and length of the animal as well as its Bulk.

Assume perhaps that the animal is 14 ft. tall to the crown of the head. Assume the animal to be 18 to 24 ft. from tail bone to Tusk tip, and assume a breadth of 8 ft.

Assume too that the SACK may have to be in pieces stitched

252 sq. ft per side x 2, minimum

144 sq. ft top and bottom, x 2 minimum

Add extra hopefully for some OOPS, animal movement being SACKED, and enough to tie off an end. Hopefully the animal will not raise her head, or attempt to relax.

That equates to approximately 1000 sq. ft. of fabric.

The question is even more inane, given that you suggest Wrapping, as if it were to be Shrink wrapped.

Finally there is my curiosity, about what else might you usually do with your time, albeit I took far too much time with this answer.
Reply:Not sure about the elephant, but I'm pretty sure the asker needs a KEEPER!.
Reply:Multiply your shoulder height times the length of said female elephant, allow more if female is pregnant, and use only materials that are guaranteed to hold the bulk weight of said female elephant. This should give you the number of yards of material to bag your pacoderm in. Good Luck!!
Reply:Depends entirely on how wide your fabric is.
Reply:i' ll ask my aunt how many it takes for her dress...ought to be close...
Reply:Never mind how much fabric you will need . First make sure she likes the colour, or she will never ware it !
Reply:i feel your question is a valid one, hahahahahahahahahahahahehehehehehehehe.

just put your elephant in the back of the car, and go to the local fabric shop, they'll measure up for you.
Reply:dip it in glue then in velvet fuzz, voila! , no need for fabric !!
Reply:your continual posting of the same question violates Answers guidelines.

stop it.
Reply:GREAT answer smiley!!!! Thanks for the 2pts!!!
Reply:who cares smiley, she just wants an answer
Reply:Did you ever stop and think that your question is in linear feet and you want an answer in square feet? Besides, elephants live in warm climates and they don't need coats.
