Will below freezeing kill the plants?

had blow freezeing temps last nite. plants look dead/ on my banana tree and my elephant ears. covered but didnt help will either survive and should i prune now thanx mike

Will below freezeing kill the plants?
yeah they're gone, but elephant ears are a bulb and will come back in the summer
Reply:no they are alive. they have died to the ground. the roots are still alive. once the warmer weather comes they will come back from the ground. the elephant ears will definatlyreturn and the banana might but it is according to the species of banana.

THEY MAY COME UP LATE. DONT TAKE THEM UP UNTIL THE SUMMER BECAUSE MOST SPROUT IN SPRING OR EARLY SUMMER
Reply:You shouldn't prune just yet. Give them a chance to recover own their own. What looks dead now may miraculously restore itslef. Pruning encourages new growth, and tender new shoots will be very vulnerable if subsequent frosts and freezes occur. Wait until later in the spring when all danger of frost has passed.
Reply:sorry mike they are probebly gone you can leave them there see if they come back glimmer of hope you never know after a while i would get them out of there.
Reply:Most plants that aren't evergreens cannot survive frost, let alone below-freezing temperatures. A tropical plant like banana is probably dead now.
Reply:Yes theye prolly dead
Reply:Yes
