yes african are a bit whiter and asian are blackish.


african have a straight back whereas asian have a bit curved back

1) Location (duh)





2) Both male and female African elephants have tusks. In Asian elephants, only the males do, and they are much smaller.





3) Asian elephants have convex (curved out) backs. African elephants have concave (curved in) backs.





4) overall size. African elephants are the largest land animals on earth.





5) "finger like" projections. At the end of an African elephant's trunk are two projections used for gripping things. An Asian elephant only has one.





6) habitat. African elephants are designed to live on the Savannah (large ears that act as air conditioners, etc.) Asian elephants are a little smaller because they live in the rain forest and have to get around.





7) The easiest way to identify an African elephant from an Asian elephant is it's ears. An African elephants ears kinda look like Africa (check it out! http://hoglezoo.org/animal.photos/africa... An Asian elephant's ears are much smaller and look a little like china or something.

Reply:As well as the smaller ear size and the more humped back of the Asian, the African has two finger-like extensions at the end of its trunk whereas the Asian has one.The two sub-species were crossed in a zoo and a hybrid was born,unfortunately it died..wonder what it looked like.
