Why an elephant had a big ears??..?

maybe not to let it know what a big size it had when turn around..so it cannot be proud of and act like a king of the jungle...AGREE?

Why an elephant had a big ears??..?
Elephants use their large ears as radiators, allowing them to gain and loose heat faster. When they overheat they fan their ears and the blood vessels dilate to allow a greater loss of heat. They are probably advantageous for picking up low frequency calls made by other elephants aswel!
Reply:If you look at pictures of them you will notice the veins in the ears. This creates a large area with blood running close to the surface so that heat can be dissipated easily from the body. They also assist the elephant with hearing since their eyes are relatively weak.
Reply:Because if they didn't Dumbo could never be able to fly the way he did.
Reply:SO IT COULD HEAR THE PITTER PATTER OF TINY MICE FEET.
Reply:there is a scientific explanation for this but I don't remember exactly waht it was, somehting about distribution of bodymass, or perhaps it is because the elephant has no pores so the ear is one of the ways it stays cool
Reply:probably to use it to get rid of the flies and insects that may swarm around its head, to protect the ears
Reply:an elephant has big ears to be able to fan itself and lose heat faster in the hot environment elephants live in. Also, you're right, because the ears are probably also used for impression; to "puff" the elephant up when it needs to look bigger. (enemies, mating)
Reply:to listen to problems
