If i have a bulb and i plant it in the ground?
Check on the Web with zoning areas for planting, dahlias will increase, but need to be dug up as well as glads, tulips are fine left in the ground.

Reply:how cold does it get where you are? If the ground freezes you have to dig up all except the tulips.

You can store them in a cool dry place in some soil.
Reply:Tulips can be left in the ground all year round to come up again each spring. Dahlia's and glads have to be dug up before the ground freezes and replanted in the spring or they die. Not sure about the other 2.

Reply:You didn't say where you live.

Each of the bulbs can take different amounts of cold in the winter with tulips able to take it down to -30F. Some bulbs need cold in the winter or they won't resprout in the spring. I think tulips may be one of these, but exactly how cold it has to get I'm not sure.
