Elephant Ears houseplant care?

My Grandma gave me an elephant ears houseplant yesterday... i have no idea how to take care of it!... never even heard of elephant ears before... can you give me some advice on how to care for these plants?

Elephant Ears houseplant care?
They need a really big container and lots of indirect bright light while indoors. It is best to keep them outside during the warm months in full sun to partial shade. Elephant Ears can be invasive if planted outside in soil so it is best to keep them confined. This is especially true if you want to over winter them indoors as they are tropical plant and will die if left outside during the winter months. As for watering...just water it when the top 3-4 inches of soil feels dry to the touch.
Reply:To add to Alicia's answer.....I used to polish mine with a small amount of Mayo. It really makes the leaves shine.
Reply:They are wild plants and need to be outside and get lots of water. BTW they get HUGE. Mine was 10 feet tall and beuatiful.
Reply:i was looking at those when trying to decide what to get from spring hill nursery. the bottom half of the page is probably what your looking for

Reply:There are different kinds of elephant ears. There is the wild small variety that grows here in the swamps of Louisiana. There is a tropical variety that grow extremely large. It will get 10' tall. There is also a colorful plant called caladiums that people sometimes refer to as elephant ears. Do some reasearch and figure out what you have. Typically keep them watered and allow it plenty of sunshine and it should be fine.
